About this deal

If the children are beginning to show horizontal and diagonal strokesit will really help for when they begin to join in year 2. It's been a couple of years since I set myself a reading challenge/target/thingy, but I got into a bit of a reading slump late last year, and I decided I needed to shake things up a bit. My kid is getting to an age now where the stories we're reading together are becoming interesting to me as well as him (no offence to things like Bigger Digger, but I'm glad those days are in the past!), so I thought I'd include some of these too (and I've set the target to a much higher number than normal, so I'm not cheating myself!). I'm going to start getting into a bit of Roald Dahl, things like that. If anyone has any recommendations, I'd love to hear them. This has to be a real school team effort! The children at school have been taking part in these events, but they need your help at home too! So have a go and send in your scores! Come on Holyport... We can do it! Now is a great opportunity for your child to practise their handwriting at home (if you can) and a little bit each day can really help. There are three different booklets to choose from based on your child's ability.

There are only 2 weeks left of the Virtual School Games. I never knew children’s picture books can be such fantastic read until I read this book! I love it when the main character is brave, curious, and can think up clever ideas. I like that Erin takes action to doing what she believes is right when others believe in the worst. My son loves this story because Erin choose to save rather than destroy. Another reason this book is great for kids is because it has a “subtle message about environmentally-friendly practices and the importance of protecting coral reefs.” I highly recommend everyone to read this book, either for yourself, for your kids, or have your kids read it. It’s definitely a re-read for my son and I and we have already read it 3 times! We are also incredibly proud of how Year 1 have continued their learning their school, these have been very unusual circumstances and they have continued to impress us. Miss Benham is really looking forward to spending time with you next week ready for September. This is a great KS1 resource to help your children reflect more on the choices of vocabulary used in the story. To write with a good level of consistency, meaning all letters are positioned on the line and are the same size as each other.Erin loves to lie on the jetty, looking for the weirdest fish in the sea—the weirder, the better! And she knows the best ones must be further out, where her mum won't let her go . . . He would love to see what you have been up to at home. You can send in pieces of work, drawings and pictures and videos of you keeping active! If your child is coming to the end of their reading book all of our books are available online as ebooks. There is much to like about Erin Pike (the story's protagonist); she's a gutsy young seafarer with a huge heart and she resolutely stands up for what she believes in. I also liked the fact that instead of a fisherman father, it is her seafaring mother who she takes to the sea with, so kudos to Joe Todd-Stanton for challenging the gender stereotype. The Ascot and Maidenhead School Sports Partnership organise and run various tournaments and festivals throughout the year for our children. Due to the current situation, they have launched a 'Virtual school games'. At the moment, these are aimed more at KS2 children, however they are looking to organise activities for KS1 children, which hopefully will be out soon. As soon as they are, we will let you know!
