For minimal heel-slip, and maximum comfort Nicks recommends completing any break-in prior to using zippers. It is also best to use the lace-in zipper with a boot that has standard eyelets and not speed hooks for its lacing system. You dont notice it as much when you lace up by hand because you pull the small amounts of slack out as you lace em up. The side zips alleviate the problem somewhat, but will eventually suffer from the same problem as the lace ins, just not near as often.
