I can hear Freddie saying the quotes when I read them, his character and personality shining through . Wasnt that enjoyable to read, given the chapters were made up of different conversations had throughout the 70s and 80s. As I read through it, enjoying hearing about his life in his own words, it eventually did become repetitive. What Greg and Simon have done is meticulously put together quotes from Freddie throughout his career and shaped them into cohesive chapters, so the book reads almost like an autobiography. Freddie Mercury died, aged just 45, but he left a legacy of incredible music and incredible performances. I think the guys have done an excellent job of capturing Freddie's essence in this clever book: it's the closest any of us are going to get to the fascinating, mercurial man that he was. Some of the content may be a little vague to those who aren't huge Queen/Freddie Mercury fans who have a solid knowledge of the bands' history. I didn't find it easy reading: you "savour every moment" as it were, and I have taken my time to get through the book.
