About this deal

This time there’s a curse, disguises, intrigue, a cast of suspicious characters and a windswept mountain castle with its own private train line. Hal and his uncle Nat are known to travel on occasion--for educational purposes of course--and a little vacation, but not the kind most people do. I did miss being on the train the whole time, I feel like that always adds a nice closed circle, or even locked room element, to the mystery. com to record that I am either a Student, Parent, Nursery Teacher, Primary Teacher, Secondary Teacher, Literacy Coordinator, Librarian, Bookseller, Publisher or Other so that I can receive worldbookday.

Uncle Nat largely fades to the background, and personally, that's for the best; Hal's relationship with the kids is fun to watch, and while a larger cast means he (and consequently, we) have less time to build ties to any of the characters introduced as we have in previous iterations, the side-characters are still largely memorable and play their own role in the story without seeming like fluff pieces there to drift about. I think it's actually a children's book, and it was the sort of book that I'd have been very interested In between the ages of 10 and 12. I found this family extremely difficult to keep up with, and I'm still not quite sure who was related to who.We enjoyed this book as much as we did the rest of the series but our 9-year old who isn’t easily scared (Harry Potters, Star Wars, Nevermore series etc) found this one a bit much and had some nightmares. Embark on a thrilling fourth adventure in the bestselling, prize-winning Adventures on Trains series - Danger at Dead Man's Pass , from M.

This time, Nat and Hal are off through Europe to Berlin, to investigate on behalf of an old friend of Nat’s. Fans of Agatha Christie, or, more recently, Robin Stevens and Katherine Woodfine, should adore this mystery which makes a steam trail all of its own. With danger and warring motives at every junction, will Hal and Uncle Nat be able to crack the case before their time in Germany is up? As soon as you read the authors' dedication page you know that this isn't going to be your typical train story. The book contains all the elements that we've enjoyed before - the relationship between Hal and Uncle Nat, the friends and characters they encounter, the real places that we can then look up about afterwards, but above all, the exciting plot and twists that come later in the story!

I honestly can not believe that an installment in this series actually got less than 4 stars and that makes me so sad. She spent her early career in the music industry running Setanta Records, an independent record label, and managing bands, most notably The Divine Comedy. Hal and Uncle Nat answer a cry for help from an old friend, and take a trans-European railway journey to the Harz mountains in Germany, where they go undercover the solve the mystery of an old family curse. Hal is swept up by his Uncle and off into an adventure involving spies, creepy legends and a very fine, rather gothic, funeral train.

Danger at Dead Man’s Pass can be read as a stand-alone novel, or enjoyed as part of the Adventures on Trains series. Embark on a thrilling fourth adventure in the bestselling, prize-winning Adventures on Trains series – Danger at Dead Man’s Pass, from M. It was wonderful to join Hal and Uncle Nat on another journey, and make friends with another group of children. And the people were not Americans pretending to be European (some authors have trouble writing the difference). As a grown up, she has written stories about fantastical beetles, beautiful birds and thrilling train rides.
