Fear Inoculum scored well with critics with the exception of Pitchfork, which usually I take with a grain of salt because they are often critical of just about any album they review. As far as the actual album is concerned, the more I listen to it the more I'm coming to terms with how half-assed it sounds. It plays quiet, every instrument is represented well in the mix and the heavy sections rip on a good system.

Later, Tool became a dominant act in the alternative metal movement with the release of its follow-up album Ænima in 1996. Tool is a very visually driven band and I expected something a little more visually interesting to look at than what they chose for the album cover. This package features five 180gm black vinyl discs, with album tracks featured on Side A, and unique etchings featured on Side B. The gatefold have a lot of nice images but what takes the whole down a bit is the insert, one side is a very nice artwork, the other is a sloppily produced information and lyrics sheet where the 7empest is both misspelled (Tempest) and lyrics omitted, the only reason seems lack of space . It's a beautifully made box set but my god what a spit in the face to tout this as a special thing, seemingly the only vinyl release of the album, only to release a standard version a few months later.Confused because I’d heard absolutely nothing about it and shocked that it was at such a steep discount.

The discs are packaged in a hard shell box with new album art, and a bound casebook holding the vinyl along with new imagery not previously seen. Opiate ² is a special limited-edition package, that includes a reimagined and extended version of the TOOL classic track. Good to have them back though, especially when the band appear to have used their time away productively.

With the effort that the band puts into creating a soundscape, it's refreshing to see such responsibility taken for the follow-through.I’m instantly transported back to 1993 and it not only stands the test of time but improves with age. The first official vinyl version made available was the ultra deluxe 5LP boxset, when copies signed by the band were sold exclusively at Tool shows from February 20 2022. As far as the music is concerned, Chris Bellman has done a stupendous job mastering and mixing this album. Curated by musicians and music lovers like Rock ‘n’ Roll Hall of Famer Matt Sorum, Experience Vinyl is the vinyl club without the commitment.

This is all subjective, of course, and really not that important in the end, but still worth mentioning. The band’s efforts to unify musical experimentation, visual arts, and a message of personal evolution continued with the release of Lateralus in 2001, and 10,000 Days in 2006 - gaining Tool critical acclaim, and commercial success around the world. I didn’t look closely at the first couple, but the poorly pressed one I still have actually has a different runout than what’s listed here (19439-86879-1-SIDE G).The included art and etchings on the reverse of the albums look great but doubt it is something I would display.
