The Acolyte, helmed by Leslye Headland, is set roughly 100 years before the events of Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace and will present the fall of the Jedi from the perspective of the dark side. The Acolyte will release at some point in 2024. This Star Wars series will be set in the later days of the High Republic at a time when a new Dark Side power is on the rise. Created by Russian Doll creator Leslye Headland, The Acolyte is described by Lucasfilm as a mystery series following a former Padawan who reunites with her Jedi Master to investigate a series of crimes, but the pair are met with something more sinister than they imagined. The series will star Squid Game’s Lee Jung-Jae, Dafne Keen ( His Dark Materials), Manny Jacinto ( Nine Perfect Strangers), Dean-Charles Chapman ( Game of Thrones), and Carrie-Anne Moss ( The Matrix), and is currently filming, which means we might see it in 2023 but guaranteed to get it by 2024. Disney’s upcoming Star Wars lineup stretches as far into the past as the High Republic and may even pass the Skywalker Saga on the timeline one day. There are shows about new characters and old favorites, and plenty of shows to help us better understand the events of one Star Wars movie or another. And while some don’t have formal release dates yet, there’s already trailers for them, like Mandalorian season 3. Then there’s The Acolyte, which hopes to capitalize on Lucasfilm’s EU business in live-action for the first time. As for new movies, Disney is a little bit more quiet, but there are a least a few on the very distant horizon. Consensus: Like most of Lego's Advent Calendars, this is a fantastic buy. There's the anticipation of not knowing what you're going to get, and the joy of building it. And, at this price, it's a lot of Lego for not much money.
Star Wars is in an interesting place in 2023. Multiple movies have been delayed or canceled after the mixed response to Rise of Skywalker (in 2019) and Solo: A Star Wars Story the year before. Since then, most new Star Wars projects have been of TV shows on Disney Plus, ranging from the high highs of Andor to the low lows of The Book of Boba Fett, with plenty of Mandalorian, Obi-Wan Kenobi, and others in between. How It Fits Into the Emerging Star Wars Galaxy: The film will establish a new class of Jedi and the forward status quo for the Star Wars timeline. It is, in essence, Episode X. Mangold will explore questions like “Where did the Force come from, when did we discover it, [and] when did we learn how to use it?” he said. The LEGO Group has been recreating iconic starships, vehicles, locations and characters from the Star Wars universe since 1999, and there is an awesome range of sets to thrill fans of all ages. Obid-Chinoy, who claimed the 1990s Star Wars Special Editions saved her life, said, “I’ve always been attracted to the hero’s journey and the fact the world needs many more heroes. I’ve spent the better part of my life meeting real heroes who fight oppressive regimes. I am attracted to immersing myself in a new Jedi Academy with a powerful Jedi master.” The best Star Wars property of all time? I think so, and I’m not alone. Andor was a game-changer for Star Wars, and while details are light on the timing and scope of the second season, we know it will be 12 episodes and the end of the show’s run. Season 2 of Andor is slated to arrive in summer 2024, Lucasfilm said at Star Wars Celebration 2023. Star Wars: The Acolyte Andorseason 2, by Tony Gilroy, will wrap up the story of Diego Luna's Cassian Andor. The first season was popular and critically acclaimed, and season 2 should continue in the same vein, leading directly into the character's appearance in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. Andor season 2 is expected to release in August 2024. Star Wars: The Bad Batch season 3, the third and final season of the beloved Clone Wars spin-off, was confirmed at SWCE 2023 and is currently set for release in 2024.

Wonder Woman director Patty Jenkins was given the reins of a Star Wars theatrical film, which was originally slated to hit theaters in Christmas of 2023. Kathleen Kennedy teased, "This story will introduce a new generation of starfighter pilots as they earn their wings and risk their lives in a boundary-pushing, high-speed thrill ride. The legend of Rogue Squadron has been long beloved by Star Wars fans, and will move us into a future era of the galaxy." Disney first announced this spinoff show about Lando Calrissian in December 2020, and hasn’t said a word about it since. On the one hand, that means it’s not officially canceled — Disney’s been pretty open about cancelling Star Wars projects recently. On the other hand, there’s been no official confirmation that the show is still happening, or that Donald Glover will return to reprise his role from Solo — but at least we know he’s interested in it. Shawn Levy’s Star Wars movie What We Know: Where the Obid-Chinoy and Mangold films represent the future and distant past of the Star Wars timeline, Filoni will make his feature film debut with a story firmly rooted in the “present” of Star Wars — the post Return of the Jedi era he and Favreau explore on Disney+. According to Kennedy, it will be the climatic event first teased during her 2020 Disney Investor Day presentation, tying up ideas from The Mandalorian, Ahsoka, and presumably Skeleton Crew with tensions between the New Republic and the Imperial Remnant reaching a crisis point.
